Sorry for the belated response to your inquiry.
I've been on the road on business and haven't been checking this site for a while.
Anyway... Bear Lake is a very nice place, especially during the warm part of the year.
It generally has cool nights (40's or 50's) and warm days (70's and 80's). Mountains are a hop and skip away, if you want greenery and the lake is a turquoise blue.
Winds come up in the mornings for a couple of hours and evenings, before the sun starts setting.
Depending on the time of year, the area has passing thundershowers and some high winds refereed to by the locals as "Pickelville Twisters". The main (and only) marina is a State run facility near the middle of the lake, on the west side.
Near the marina, but further than walking distance away are some hamburger joints that serve food and the famous Bear Lake Raspberry shakes.
There are at least two or three restaurants that serve some pretty good steaks and such and prime rib dinners.
A farming community town (Montpellier, Idaho) is about twenty miles north and has a fair supermarket, hardware store and auto parts shop.
One can camp in a variety of locations, some having some pretty good facilities and some that have outhouses and pretty sparse facilities.
There's a KOA camp ground and some places have 10 x 12 one room cabins, with kitchenette for rent.
If you want more there's full services in Logan, Utah, a college town that's an hour west on highway 89. Ogden and Salt Lake are another hour or so from there.
If you go the other way you have lots of State Parks and very pretty scenery...Jacksonhole, Tetons, Yellowstone, etc.
Come visit. It's a very nice place.
Tom
