I think its great how people can rationalize anything. "I'm right and I'll show you why". They will go to great expense to move their boat or tie it off, but they don't think twice about getting in a car and driving through traffic. they see one fatal plane crash and they will never get on a plane again, but they take a shower everyday. I'm not taking sides, just observing. Everyones situation is different, don't judge someone unless you can put yourself in their position. Too many decisions have been made with inadequate information.
I salute anyone that has survived a hurricane or any storm in a boat, I think it makes you wiser and more humble but mostly they have the guts and determination to try. I survived an incredible lightning storm on the top of a 10,000 foot mountain last July, I couldn't hold the handlebars of my 4-wheeler beacause I was getting shocked, I felt the impact before I saw or heard it, I could have died at any second, but I didn't. I could have done things differently, I may have even avoided the situation all together but I chose to live, enjoy and move on. I've driven through Mexico City and seen every third house rebuilt because of an earthquake, mother nature is unpredictable, even by those that predict her.
My hat is off to anyone that is out there cruising and enjoying life, no matter what the consequenses. I hope to join you someday.
