Bill is right about 2 on 1 cat. You should have at least an 18. I've been planning a trip from San Felipe to La Paz for a few years now, and we planned on taking 4 Cal 25's or similar and use a couple Hobies as chase boats, or 'just in case' boats. What month are you planning on going? Did you know There's a Mid-Winter's West Hobie Cat regatta the end of Feb. that taks place in San Felipe? I've raced in it several years on a 16 up until about 10 years ago when I got into other interests, but it's a great regatta!. If you do some searching on the web you'll find a lot of stories about people on anything from kayaks to Hobies, dealing with conditions from Chibascos (westerlys) to no wind at all. We had quite a few floaters at the Mid-Winter's West, so don't think it will be all wind! However, if you're conditions are even half decent you should be able to average between 40-50 miles a day since you'll be on a reach pretty much the whole way down. It WILL be an adventure, but you really need to plan ahead for your stops for water, etc. Good Luck, Randy
