Bought an Islander 30 a few years ago in the San Francisco Bay area and had been going down and working on it. Last fall I cast off the dock lines and we headed south, got as far as Ensenada. Left the boat there until March and we continued the journey. Got the boat down to Cabo then up to La Paz where I had to leave until late next fall or winter...sigh. Not quite ready to retire and work is busiest in the summer so sailing has always been a conflict. This was my solution. I end up on the boat for 4 to 5 weeks a year but probably sail more that most owners who have year round access to their boats. Can't wait until the snow starts falling again.....
