Hello, Alain--
Thanks for your suggestions.
I've only seen one Frisco Flyer converted to a cutter-- it was a Type I, also called Pacific Clipper, and the headstay was a few feet aft of the bow, and did not go to the masthead. The conversion was made by adding a bowsprit and rigging stays to that. Though I can't remember too many details about it, it seems it worked out pretty well.
I've got a later rig, a Type II, and the conversion would be mighty tough, and would severely complicate use of space below decks. Nice idea, though.
I had heard of the ATN. Users don't seem enamored of it.
This may be an ignorant remark, but there's a stubborn corner of my mind that wonders why a heavier sailcloth couldn't be used on a 125 Genoa for the last, say 60 sq ft that the sail rolled up. The sail could be rolled up until this area was all that was exposed... why shouldn't it work as a storm sail? Not that it would set beautifully... but do you need a storm jib to set beautifully? Comments?
Thanks-- Wayne
