Tom-
don't ask, don't tell. i only brought up the topic so people would be aware of the possibility of import questions. there's probably no one in bahia concepcion who's going to question you about it. don't alert san carlos marina that there are questions about this. just be quiet and courteous.
if you feel that a 10 year import permit or an all of mexico 6 month temporary permit would be good for you to have, considering your destinations, get one at K-21. the 10 year is free and the 6 month is cheap. every official in mexico will interpret the ramifications of holding either one or neither one in a different way. don't open pandora's box of worms if you aren't compelled to... it could be bad for others.
after the last two years going down the east coast highways to belize and guatemala, it looks like i may be going down the west side again this year... christmas in san carlos, then maybe across the sea of cortez to bahia concepcion and maybe la paz (never been to la paz yet... i'd like to visit).
my ultimate southerly port in mind is barra de navidad... always wanted to visit PV. i may sail back to san carlos and trailer down to PV... then sail to barra de navidad... or sail across from la paz, take the bus back to get my trailer and bring the new blue frog back to NM. this all depends on my finances and my ability to solicit and humor a couple of crew members for the trip.
thanks for all the great info you share here.
Johnny-
yes... this boat has a bit more keel under her... but not so much that i can't still sail her down the highway to the SOC, caribbean, pacific, gulf of mexico or the atlantic... that's a lotta choices. we may indeed cross wakes this winter... i owe you a beer and a fish taco. if you see me coming, heave to.
i appreciate your help. thanks.
