my understanding is that you only need the 10 yr. if you are leaving the boat in mexico and you will not be with it. i was charged about 50 bucks for a ten year permit last year. there is no longer a port capt. in mulege and you don't need all the formal check in check out procedures anymore once you are in the country. for the six month i think they just add the boat to your tourist visa and then you are expected to bring it out. also, there is nothing wrong about asking them at marina san carlos. it is important to obey the mexican laws or you could get in trouble and they know the law. their mission is to help boaters and to make sure you don't get into trouble. hi to johnny, tom and blue moon. i should be in san carlos about 9 oct. cu garth and vela
