Hove-to

In Response To: A thought from a different discussion board (Tom H.)

I generally hove-to in mild or light winds so I can take a break, have a bite to eat, refill the thermos or check the head.

In windier (real windy!!)conditions, in order to control the boat, I use either the Sea Squid or a 6' sea drogue on a swivel with some chain.

Main sheet is double reefed and genny is rolled up. If necessary, I slip my storm sail on over the furled genny.

Sliding the swells is a lot easier with this arrangement for me than without anything to act as a brake.

Don't know if it's correct or not but it works for me....

Thanks Dana
