I really like the idea of the solar panel and I use a Honda 15 hp to keep my batteries up.

Call me cheap, but I've also found using a relatively cheap solar powered deck light for my anchor light saves, considerably, on my battery.

This is usually in addition to using a waterproof plug in anchor/deck light like this one on eBay:

I put this one on a staff off my boom and it has been a great addition....adn useful.

Both go on goes on at dusk and off at dawn and are easy on the battery.
