Well, I was taking a break from keeping the city streets safe as only an auditor can.... you know, just letting the sweat dry, for a moment ....
I often use Google Earth to look over possible destinations for my next sailing adventure.
While doing that, it occurred to me, perhaps not everyone who visits this site has explored the Google Earth web site.
It is a user-friendly site that uses some simple mouse movements to change one's immediate view of the earth. You can tilt the view, zoom in and out, etc.
It is clear enough to see possible anchorages, snorkeling places, etc.
I can even make out my boat, sitting next to my house, using a zoomed in view from space.
Though I haven't checked how accurate is is to the foot, it gives you G.P.S. coordinates for this and that....or you can input the coordinates and it will zoom the map's view to that location on the computerized globe.
It will measure distances for you (as the crow flies).
The various segments are apparently taken from various space views of the earth.
Some were taken more recently and some less.
That means some of the recently constructed buildings, roads, etc., may not be shown.
However, the Sea of Cortex has been there for a while so its features show up pretty good.
If you haven't used it to look over various areas of the Sea of Cortez, I'd guess, you'll find it pretty interesting.
Besdies, its other features, it is free.
Look it over and see what you think:
