Averaged Speed depends on what you travel in/on and the conditions encountered which can vary greatly. Did I say the conditions may vary greatly? They do vary greatly. In other words conditions would be variable from flat calm to 30knt +, the later creates very mean square seas. Very often local conditions will not be reflective of what you will encounter 20 miles out, by then it could be problematic to turn around. In july you have to deal with the added threat of Big Time Thunderstorms on both sides. I would not rush into this, think it thru and keep on asking around. By the way, the coast from Kino to San carlos has a lot to offer, check Gerry Cunningham's Cruising Guide to San Carlos.
