If I were you, I'd say the safest thing would be to hire someone who was familiar with the Sea of Cortez and the trip you are talking about to go with you, and then buy him/her a bus ticket back to LaPaz. If you have to be out of LaPaz pretty quickly, you're likely to experience rougher weather than if you can wait a month or so. This is not a coast and sea to tackle by yourself if you're not familiar with it and if you're green to ocean sailing. On the other hand, you have a good boat for a singlehander, and if you're careful about the weather, and you have the Cunningham guides, you probably will be fine. Be careful, good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
