Yes, we love Tepic, also, but not to drive through from either direction. The narrow winding roads going up the mountains and really slow trucks make for a long passage. I have the patience to drive slowly behind them but others want to risk their lives as they pass on curves, etc. A friend told us about the bypass route and we've taken it ever since. Not much traffic at all, some great scenery and in about 1/3 of the time we're already past Tepic and on our way. We have driven up and spent time in Tepic on other occaisions and yes, it is a nice place. Really haven't gone fishing much at all in SOC except my four large dorado off of Mazatlan a few years back. Great day that was!!!! Just absolutely gorgeous and the sea was like glass most of the time. Dolphins and sea turtles all over the place!!! Brings back fond memories......... Hope to fish off the boat again on our planned 2 or 3 month voyage in October.
