In Response To: re: boat liability insurance (elpolvo)

In recent years, there was a major problem in San Diego regarding Mexican Insurance. There was an well-known agent that was selling Mexican Car and Boat Insurance to literally hundreds of folks going south. Turns out the Mexican insurance company provider was a phoney...never existed. Don't know if anyone ever got burned after being involved in an incident or accident but it sure makes me wonder. Is there any way to verify the legitimacy of these companies? It would be nice to know the company you have your insurance with is actually an insurance company , licensed and financially stable. I understand that Mexican authorities do not recognize policies unless written up by "real" Mexican insurance Companies. How can you find out? Thanks, sloopy25
