Travel Safety

Report: outside forum guidelines

My wife and I travel from Nogales to San Carlos for our two week stay at the end of December each year. We have not had problems or concerns about safety since we only drive during the day and we always stay on the main toll roads. With so many stories in the news about crime and violence in Mexico my wife has concerns. Can anyone give us current information about travel safety in Sonora?
