Wayne, i'm not sure i understand all of your travel and storage plans but two things are sure: There is no more Sonora Only permit required unless you go South of Guaymas (Empalme?) so long term storage of vehicle is no problem in San carlos. For the boat and trailer, get a 10 year permit sticker in Guaymas, a very easy procedure that will cost you around $60. As for your visa, unless you go the the FM3 route you will have to renew every six months.
