The issue of trash in the Sea of Cortez is huge and depressing. Here in Kino Bay, the City of Hermosillo occaisionally picks up trash left by weekend beach goers. But we are also privileged to have a fleet of Shrip boats that anchor in the bay during the daytime. All of the trash for up to 30 boats is dumped overboard. Depending on the tide and winds, in the short section of the beach where I live, we pick up 3 large trash bags of plastic bottles and other trash every day.

Sometimes the visitors to the beach will help a little, especially the kids. But families still leave a pile of trash when they leave. Any effort to help the people of the Sea of Cortez protect their beautiful Sea, is great. Everyone should set an example and show how much they care.
