First, it burns my hiney that access to a passport in a timely manner is limited to the amount of money you have to spend on one and discriminates against those who don't have money to throw around. I would think it would be against the law for the federal government to operate like a for profit business instead of administering services based upon serving all citizens equally regardless of financial status. Second, the fact that policies for entry into the US can be adjusted at will depending on their supposed workload. Are they really going to keep a citizen from the US out of the country who entered Mexico on a DL 6 months ago? The fact is, getting into Mexico without a passport is easy, no problem and getting back into the US from say Tiajuana isn't that difficult. So if you walk across at Tiajuana, you can then fly or drive all over the country with a drivers license and then when you are ready you can walk back across at Tiajuana. So is the whole border crossing thing just a scheme to sell passports. They sure aren't stopping any one who knows how from crossing the border. I mean how many Mexican workers cross the border every day. If they are trying to save money in government they ought to just open the border, get real, and quite throwing billions of dollars at it without tangible results. The only thing they are really good at is harassment of honest US citizens.
