Puerto Escondido has always been cruiser friendly and with the new 41 million peso project happening in and around Puerto Escondido, cruisers can anticipate some awesome changes. Fonatur is putting in all new infra-structure surrounding PE and when completed they will start selling lots for building. PE services now include rides to and from boats or dingy dock, a small tienda with beer, ice and chips, a new resturarant with wifi, lap pool and Jacuzzi, telephone, laundry service, potable water, fuel(diesel and gas for cars), with fuel pump price from dock, 24 hour guard service for cars ,launch ramp for trailered boats and day parking for boats and cars,free garbage service(dumpsters), full service bathrooms with showers.
They also have dry storage with PE marine service operating part of it.
They have established a new pump house station. Singlar has revamped all their moorings and it is hurricane safe.
According to Mexican law, no one can own a mooring in Mexico but Singlar has approximately 30 anchoring systems in PE.
This summer they had an average of 8 boats on moorings. When hurricane Norbert was approaching the port had 30 boats in the main harbor. 20 of those boats are in the main harbor full time. The heat and humidity broke after hurricane Norbert. During the month of October, 7 boats moved through dry storage and at this printing there are 6 boats in dry storage.
Along the lines of service in and around the PE area, we have a new Modelarama down the road run by Fernando and Lorrana. They have it stocked with fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, beer, cold drinks, ice and an assortment of other items. If you hail Fernando on channel 22, they will come and pick you up from the dingy dock, take you to their store so you can shop and back to the dingy dock.

Fonatur is about to take possession of the eclipse and turn it into a slip marina. This will start in approximately 8 months.
