Doc Still in Coma, his Prognosis is Poor I wish that I had positive news to report, but I do not. Gary remains in a coma. He has suffered substantial brain damage and his prognosis is very poor. He has been moved out of the ICU, and is now resting comfortably in a private room, with his wife at his side almost 24 hours a day. Mary, his family and I are now having to deal with the difficult realization that Doc is probably not coming back to us. The heartfelt support that has been sent forth by the Trailer Sailor community has really helped to sustain us. We have received hundreds of emails, and Mary reads them to Gary everyday. They are all wonderful, but recently we received one that really touched the heart of what are feeling: Dear special friend: Well, it seems that perhaps you have chosen to remain in the comfortable place you are. You’re no doubt in your boat with the waves very gently rocking you to and fro. And you have an arm around Mary and a good beer and you are smiling your contented, happy smile. Please be happy, Gary – you have certainly brought much happiness to others. If you choose to stay in the gentle waters, I will next see you when we are both residing in another location of this incredible universe.
