Mast Hoops

No, I don't have them thank goodness. Instead the Bobcat uses cringles of 1/2" rope spliced in about a 5" circle. What I was wondering was just how mast hoops were installed. I know they go around the mast and through the grommets in the sail but forget just how this is accomplished. Do they come apart or are they threaded on like a key ring? Just got to wondering when Steve Haines mentioned he needed some, that's all. The cringles on the catboat work great by the way. Initally, I did have a problem with them hanging up but the diameter was too small and once I remade them bigger it helped. I also wrapped them with teflon pipe tape too Works like a charm!
