Mackinaw or Bust

Report: outside forum guidelines

Need all the advice I can get. I'll be towing our Suncat "Mistoffelees" to the top of Michigan next week and will be tying up on Mackinaw Island for the month of August. I have never been there on the water. I would greatly appreciate any advice or wise words on:
NOTE: "Don't do it" can't be considered as advice, the second mate has spoken.
1. Towing problems to look out for? (Its 1400 miles all on Hwy 75 from Florida to Mackinaw City. The trailer is new with spare)
2. Good cruises from and around Mackinaw to ???
3. Warnings about tides? currents? temperatures? bugs? Michigan sailors? etc.?
4. Winds to expect?
