Question re: replacing cockpit seats

Report: outside forum guidelines

I can get some second growth, tree farm teak at a "reasonable" price but it is only 3/8” thick. I am going to replace my plywood seats but I’d like to do it right and have them last. (The boat's seats were originally teak; plywood was put in by the boat's rescuer some years ago.) The spacing of the seat supports is about 40 inches and they need to be replaced too so I can add extra if need. Is 3/8 too thin?

Thanks, Fran
