In Response To: Sheets and Halyards Specs (Don Schroder)

Page 8 of the Harpoon handbook says the mainsheet is 7/16" and the jibsheet is 3/8". The specs under our "more info" section say 3/8 and 5/16 respectively. Can I presume the ones under "more info" are racing specs? Is it because the lines were poorer 28 years ago and now they can be smaller, but for sheets, how about feel? Additionally, 2 sail shops, and pretty knowledgeable sailers it seemed, say that for a main in a boat like a Whaler they would use a 5/16 halyard (which is what the remnant I have seems to be on the boat I just acquired). I had ordered the sheets already, so I will live with it, but have not ordered the halyards. Any real world experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
