For the most part, I think compliance is not to hard to achieve. As with any rules, they are subject to interpretation and interpretation is done by human beings.
Unless something is modified in an attempt to provide an obvious advantage over the standard, I don't think anyone needs to worry. If we as a group of Harpoon sailors decide to reorganize the Class, we can and should clarify, modify, eliminate, change, etc. to our mutual benefit and not feel that these rules are written in stone.
As best I can tell, using a hook for the cunningham provides no advantage over attaching it from side to side through a grommet so I doubt anyone's protest on that would be upheld by reasonable people. If there's any doubt, let's change it!
Likewise no one will succeed with a protest over spinnaker color!
And please race, even if it is single-handed! I don't even think single-handed racing would be an advantage, even in light air.
