For those who trailer and need to rig their boat frequently, I found a good source for quick-release ball-lock pins at www.fixtureworks.net. Just push the button to release the ball-lock; release the button and the balls lock solidly in place (see below). They're all industrial quality and priced for less than one sees in the marine catalogs. I went with the ring handle, 304 ss pins (4,500 lbs). They also have a heavier duty pin made of 17-4 hardened ss (20,000 lbs).

I use them to attach the boom to the gooseneck (1/4" x 1-1/4", Catalog #: RACS-25-125, $13.72) and to attach the tack of the sail to the mast (5/16" x 1-1/4", Catalog #: RACS-31-125, $14.57) plus shipping. You can also use one to rig the head stay to the tack fitting on the stem head, (1/4" x 3/4", Catalog #: RACS-25-75, $12.97).
