Thwart

Report: outside forum guidelines

In Response To: Wouldn't think it would be needed structurally (Jenny)

Jenny's right, it's not structural. When I replaced the wood on my 5.2, I noticed the thwart just rests on "ledges" on either end and on the centerboard truck. It is "trapped" on either end with wooden cleats that are screwed to the sides of the boat but are not fastened to the thwart. There's a brief discussion on whether to thwart the thwart on this forum at http://bbs.trailersailor.com/forums/harpoon/index.cgi/read/7609. I thought about removing it, but preferred to have it look original. To each is own.
