In Response To: "surprise release" ball lock pins (pic) (Kinney 4.6 #592)

I don't have much on-water experience with my pins, Kinney, but I did see one like yours at West Marine last weekend and noted how small the locking balls were compared to the ones on the pins I purchased. The pins from Fixture Works, www.fixtureworks.net, are for industrial applications and have a high-quality feel about them.

Another option is a toggle pin. Not sure where to purchase but Ronstan has one in their catalog at http://www.ronstan.com/catalogue/A_P42-43.pdf#search=%22toggle%20pins%22. It's at the bottom of page two of the PDF.
