I carry one at all times tied with a 1/8" line to the seat on one side with enough slack to use it without untying it. I still try to sail in and out of the launching area where I sail (the state park on Claytor Lake VA) but it is difficult because of a small island, that protects the launch area from wakes of the motoring traffic, but also makes the wind crazy in that area.
