Hi Gene, I don't know how close to the stock configuration my rudder was when I got the boat but I do remember how it was set up. It had a piece of shock cord for the uphaul that ran from a hole in the aft edge of the rudder near the top of the blade to a point inside the square tubing that serves as the tiller. The downhaul was a line that ran from a hole near the top forward edge of the rudder blade forward under the tiller to a jam cleat near the forward end.
I replaced the shock cord with a piece of quarter inch line and put a jam cleat on the top of the tiller between the cheeks of the rudder bracket. I did this because I wanted a more positive uphaul and the original shock cord had stretched and worn. I retained the original setup for the downhaul. I've attached a picture in which you can see these lines rigged. The small line in front of the rudder bracket that loops around the tiller retains a small clip that fits into the top pintle and serves as a rudder lock.
