I greatly appreciate everyone’s assistance. The reason I have elected the asymmetric is that after sailing and owning several boats with each type, the reality is that the asymmetric is just plain easy to use, and thus gets used more. I sail on mountain lakes at 8000’ to 11,000’. In the narrow canyons, I find I need to jibe every 3 min or so at my optimum VMG angle. When I am single handing, the spinnaker is just too much for me to handle with any level of seamanship, and when sailing with my wife it causes discussions of sleeping on the couch... In combination with a snuffer tube, the asymmetric is quite manageable. Depending on cut and use many argue the performance benefits one way or the other, but this is not of primary importance (I sail an H18 when speed is the only objectiveJ). I will fly the kite from the bow fitting just beyond the jib on a yoke that straddles the furler and at about 12” off the deck. I do not intend to do three sail reaching, as the jib will be furled when the kite is up. All that said, I hope it works as well as it has on other boats or I will be out some $$$$!!!!
