Got the boat put up for the season

We had a good sail yesterday, although I wasn't able to land on the Sometimes Islands as I had planned. I dropped the anchor to windward of the easternmost one, but it seemed like there wasn't enough rode. So I was hauling back in and felt something come unstuck, so I tried again. Couldn't get the boat to lie to the anchor, though, she kept wanting to sail around and I couldn't get her to back down. Finally gave up and pulled up the anchor. Went to put the board down and found it was already down. The rode had apparently gotten around it and when I pulled it free it pulled the board down. So no wonder she was giving me trouble. By that time I needed to head back in, though, since I didn't have lights (I had intended to get in about 4, and it was about a quarter to five by the time I left the island, but not actually very dark by the time I got to the dock, although the sun was behind the hill). Having some surgery in the morning, so I'll be out of commission for at least six weeks. Hope some of you are still getting some sailing in.
