I'm a new Harpoon 5.2 owner (haven't even picked up my new boat yet), and have been reading with interest about the issue of turtling. With a beam of 7' 6", the 17' Harpoon 5.2 has only 6" less beam than the Hobie Cat 17' with its 8' beam. Hobie developed the "Hobie Bob" aerodynamic masthead flotation pod to prevent turtling of its cats. I understand they can be quickly removed for one-design racing, etc. Have any forum readers used the Hobie Bob on the 5.2 masthead, or seen it done?
