so Lake Travis may be coming up a bit--it's been so low I think almost all of the public ramps have been out of the water. Canyon Lake is nice, and I don't think it's down as much, although some of the campgrounds close in the winter. I haven't personally sailed on Lake Buchanan, which is the largest of the Highland Lakes. I hear that facilities are limited but otherwise it's pretty nice. Inks Lake is pretty small for sailing but it is scenic and has big rocks in case you get homesick . Stillhouse Hollow is a nice lake and you can sail pretty far on it if you want to. I think some of the campgrounds there close in the winter, too. If you want really big, there's Texoma, but that's up north where it sometimes snows. For Central Texas, the basic principle is that it will not do the same thing for three days running, whatever it is. Sometimes it's windy and sometimes it isn't, although it is windier on average in winter than summer. Water is cold but not by Michigan standards (Lake Travis should dip into the 50s soon and stay there until April or so). I'm sure the Florida people will be along with their recommendations. Lake Weir is nice and almost deep enough to turtle a Harpoon in, Lake Monroe is pretty small and brown and shallow, the alligators aren't up to much this time of year, and that's about all I know.
