Turnbuckle Toggles

Report: outside forum guidelines

Wintertime, and it is time to attend to the fixing.

Attached is a picture of one of the turnbuckle toggles on my 5.2. The PO had the boat re-rigged, but the tension (or the fitting itself) has distorted on the toggle where the turnbuckle attaches to the chainplate. You can see the bend in the thread. Worse, the barrel of the threaded part will almost slip out of the toggle slot with a good twist.

What do most folks use to attach their chainplates to their shrouds? Is there a better way than this toggle?

Thanks much -

Bob V
