Report: outside forum guidelines

I haven't been on this board since I sold my 5.2 to the Oklahoma State University Sailing club a few years back. Well, now I'm an advisor to the club, and I need to address some issues regarding the Harpoon since it became a club boat. To cut to the chase, some students had it out last fall and snapped the mast, by report above the stays, though I haven't been out there yet in my 8 day tenure.

The club wants this boat back operational, and I see two options: 1) Buy a fully rigged, fully set up mast with everything that is attached to the mast OR 2) buy the bare stick and take the tangs, spreaders, sheaves, etc, off the old one and reinstall. Option 1 is approx $2100 boxed and shipped. Option 2 around $1,000.

I welcome your thoughts and comments.
