not a full concept yet, just a thought... Any of you other Harpooners get the annual reminders of the coming sailing season I get - I mean of course West Marine Sale flyers?
I've been looking at these slick self inflating PFDs - hydrostatic pressure differentials or something - when they are underwater 1 or 2 feet, they inflate, they know enough not to inflate from a splash of water.
I wonder if there would be some way to mount the uninflated PFD in a small package at top of mast, allowing it to expand - maybe break some low strength tie wraps or something - when/if it ever submerges?
Specs on one unit are 33 lbs bouyancy, the other 22.5 lbs.
Is this enough bouyancy? Any ideas?
The New Hampshire sailing season is about to begin, I envy those of you in more temperate climates, I'm thinking about it....
