Gene my stays also tension on the windward sideas normal--I was concerened with the mast forward bend as we have no back stay to hold mast back, just rear attached stays for a dual purpose. Found my forestay and jib flopping a bit concering amoung the white caps--but we sure were moving!! Larry in LA # 716
