I should have done a follow up afterwards. I got the centerboard loose be just letting the stuff up in the trunk dry. I had basically mulch up in the trunk. I found that by pulling the board up as far as possible and and going back and forth (up/down)the stuff mostly fell out while on trailor. I crawed under trailor and pulled out the rest. There's the rub, if your in the water and that stuffs floats its not going anywhere but back in the trunk.
Im also attaching a picture of our boat and crew. We pulled out of the river a few weeks ago and there was the John Smith Discovery barge getting ready to be put back on the water. This shallop is a reproduction of the boat John Smith explored the Cheaspeke 400 years ago. A brave band of sailors are retracing his path in the Shallop as the national park service prepairs a water trail that will allow boaters to retrace Smith voyages.
