I went for a walk down there yesterday. Not sure what is up with that, the day with dead calm I go sailing and the day with great wind, I stay on shore.
That be as it may, the couple in the attached picture were smarter than I. Another sailor taking advantage of Lady Bird Lake. These shot was taken in the lower section of the lake - downstream from I-35. There is a boat ramp down there as well. That ramp has a line at mast height to prevent people from launching boats that are too tall. Per a sign, the maximum allowable height is 22 feet. Which rules out my Harpoon by a couple, three feet or so. However, since there is no similar sign at the other launch, west of I-35, I presume that the height limit refers to the lower part of the lake. I tried to eyeball the clearance under I-35. It actually looked pretty low. Can't imagine that if the Harpoon can clear it, it would be by much more than whisker. I'll probably not chance it.
Any way, it is great to see someone else out on that lake. If anyone recognizes the couple in the boat, please let them know that I posted their picture here - hopefully they do not take offense.
