Pehr,

I've had some experience with a couple of 3.5 HP motors on salt water with some tidal currents but not a whole lot. Most of my sailing is on lakes. So far I haven't had any problems with a lack of power, I'm usually at half throttle or so. I had been thinking of buying a Honda 2 HP but went with the Tohatsu 3.5 thinking it was the "high power" choice. So far I like the Tohatsu but really haven't been able to use it much yet.

Also, at 38 pounds or so, this is about as heavy a motor as I like fooling around with, as I trailer the boat and have to handle the motor each time I take it out.

Hope that's helpful
