5.2 side wood

Report: outside forum guidelines

One of the plywood panels under the seats on my 5.2 has rotted out. this is the vertical panel pinned in by the thwart and holds the jib sheet guide. any recommendations on type of wood to use here? would using a starboard panel be complete heresy? thanks-
