Boom and gooseneck

I've never seen one with a sliding gooseneck. Mine is fixed and is the original. Page 12 of the manual describes the 90 degree twist but not in reference to lowering the mast.

Speaking as one who has heard that awful noise twice, I have given up trying to leave the boom on. It's just not worth it. Using a simple wingnut on the bolt makes attaching and removing the boom very easy. Do this on land though. I've dropped the nut through the centerboard trunk to the bottom of the lake too!

BTW, RigRite sells the boom casting.
