The cuddy on our boat is critical. When we sail its typically my wife and I along our two kids (7 and 9). The children very often are quite happy going down below and reading out of the sun. They crawl back and forth from the "dog house" to the front of the boat. It helps defines their space while on the boat. We have even considered getting foam pads cut for the "dog house" as a few times my daughter has fallen asleep.

I imagine this might change as they get older larger and hopefully take a more active role in sailing. This past weekend I must boastfully add, they rigged the boat with very little help from Dad.
