(Or have it cut down) A Genoa on a Whaler? Sacrilege!!!! I am not sure what you would gain anyway, other than just being able to use it.

But, if you insist, a set of jib cleats (or turning blocks), where the spinnaker cleats would go on the gunnel, might work. I presume this would ONLY be used in light air and quick release would not be necessary if you used the cleats. (My thoughts here is: it is a known place for wood support underneath the gunnel, and positioned back about where you described a mounting would be necessary.(You can find the specs on line in the Harpoon web site.)
