I just dropped my mast, the Schaefer foil is flexible enough to lay on the deck and have the drum not extend beyond the pulpit.I prefer to try and keep the foil straight over the winter and so just remove the one bolt at the top and slide the foil up the mast. I support it with bungee cords along the mast. If I was just storing it in a garage for a week or so I would just let it lay on the deck in order to keep it all inside the garage and use a boat hook as Rod does to trailer it to a ramp.
