I have a 2006 Honda 9.9 outboard on my boat that I've been very happy with. The prop was damaged and needs to be either rebuilt or replaced. The prop that came on the motor was a 4 blade 10" dia. x 6.5" pitch prop with a 2.33 lower gear ratio. the old prop had lots of power and seemed to reach top speed of 7 or 8 knts at about half throttle. I'm told by the Honda dealers they no longer supply this prop. It seems the choice I have is for a 7" or 5" pitch prop. in 9' or 10" dia. I intend to get the 10" prop 4 blade prop but not sure if there is any advantage to the 5" pitch. I do not know what rpm the motor was turning with the old prop. I notice Honda sells an nice digital tach and hour meter for this motor for $43, I think I'll buy one of these with the new prop and check the rpm at max speed and then it will be useful to keep track of hrs on motor too. Any advice on pitch changes up or down ? Bob Hussey
