I just got a quote from my boat insurance company (Skippers Plan) for increased coverage for the boat from Ottawa to the Florida Keys for 3 months. They now charge me $300 per year for coverage in the Great Lakes and tributaries as far east as Quebec City, as far south as Terrytown NY. This includes $2 million liability plus coverage for the boat, motor, trailer, dinghy, and contents. They are asking an additional $200 for the one trip going south to the Keys, and coverage is limited to 10 miles offshore. I was previously insured with State Farm (cost was about the same per year) and on the old policy it appears they were covering me anyplace in Canada or the USA up to 75 miles offshore. I think I will cancel this policy and go back to State Farm. Are there any other considerations ? Bob
