Trailer tongue

Macs don't normally require an extendable tongue. They are mostly found on fixed keel boats as they sit higher on the trailer and thus need to be backed farther into the water before floatinf off. That said, I added and extendable tongue to mine (swings out) since the lakes have been low lately and there have been some launch challenges. You can see that yours has not been needed much, but it does add strength to the tongue itself. As far as the "one" bolt holding it; as long as it is a hardened bolt, that is all you need (same as the bolt in you towing receiver.
