(link) (pic) (Ramblin' Rod s/v SeaQuell - Mac 26D - Georgian Bay, ON) I do about the same thing except I use electrical tape (VERY tight wind, an inch overall)... cut normally with a knife on a cutting board and then just heat the ends a little with a Bic lighter...I leave the tape on (and it will stay on a long time if the last couple of wraps are laid with no tension at all). I used to "sieze"...very nautical and all...but really what's the point? This is faster and works better.
